Despite the fact that I quite enjoyed cooking things as a budding teenager, at some point in my life I decided “I can’t cook”, and I stopped really trying. Even up until last year whenever someone talked about what a good cook their Significant Other was, I felt a twinge of regret that my skills weren’t anything to brag about. I joked to anyone and everyone that “I could burn water if I tried”.
In January of this year, my boyfriend (who shall be referred as “Cat-Man”) and I made a decision to change our food lifestyle. I refuse to call our decision a diet, because a diet is a temporary thing and often associated with the stigma of “You Must Deny Yourself Everything Tasty”. I believe one can make healthier food choices and still enjoy plenty of delicious things. Even things that some may consider “taboo” – as I don’t think much is taboo as long as it’s done in moderation. I am proud to mention that over the last 7 months I have lost 41lbs, and while I have a long way to go, I have no intention of ever going back to my starting weight.
I have a major love of food. That’s not to say there aren’t some things I won’t touch with a ten foot pole – but I would definitely consider myself a Foodie. Since a big part of changing ones eating habits includes cooking at home a lot more, I have found myself spending a lot of time researching websites for healthier recipes and meal ideas. To say that food and recipes are often on my mind would be an understatement.
Yesterday it seems the foodie-stars aligned. Right after I created this blog (and with food still on the brain) I was preparing to write my first post when I accidentally came across The Daily Post‘s Weekly Writing Challenge titled “A Pinch of You“. The challenge was to write up a recipe of all your “…bits and pieces and quirks and foibles and loves that make you you”. “How appropriate!” I thought.
The results of my recipe are unpredictable, as the ingredients and quantity are ever-changing.
No-Bake Misa Cake
This is a no-bake recipe, as Misa’s greatly dislike heat.
- 1/2 tsp OCD
- 2 cups Creativity
- 1 pot of Coffee
- 3 squares of Chocolate
- 2 large handfuls of Curiosity
- 2.5 cups Introversion
- 1/2 c. Passion
- 1/2 c. Temper
- 1 peck of Procrastination
- 1 bushel of Variegated Music
- Equal parts Sarcasm and Humor
- Puns – to taste
Directions: In a large bowl combine Creativity, Coffee, Chocolate, Curiosity, Music and Introversion. Mix well.
Slowly fold in Passion and Temper, being careful not to let either spill out. Add a peck of Procrastination….eventually.
Last of all beat in Sarcasm, Humor and Puns. Be careful you don’t use too much Sarcasm, or the dish may sour.
Pour mixture into a square pan of equal measurements (such as 6×6 or 8×8), as odd numbered measurements may scramble the dish.
Refrigerate immediately, let chill 1 hour.
